Antonio P. Lane Jr. is a Childhood Cancer Survivor of 24+ years. He was diagnosed at age four with a rare form of cancer known as Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor (PNET). It is a rare tumor, usually occurring in children and young adults under the age of 25, with him being the youngest child to be diagnosed at that age. Antonio has used his story to inspire and bring awareness to numerous cancer survivors across different platforms. Antonio was a 1995 Make-A-Wish Georgia recipient. He currently volunteers as a wish granter for the Georgia chapter of Make-A-Wish and participates in long-term follow-up study opportunities with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Antonio is a HBCU graduate of Albany State University where he obtained a Bachelor Degree of Business Management and a Master Degree of Business Administration. He has a high compassion and regard for cancer awareness as well as giving back to the upcoming generation in the area of education. The purpose of starting this foundation was to raise awareness for different cancers while having a lateral passion towards our next generation of graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. Funds raised during my projects help sponsor academic scholarships and many other awareness initiatives. Fundraising these projects helped establish the annual “Antonio P. Lane Jr Childhood Cancer Awareness Academic Scholarship” for graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. The AL Awareness Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit missioned to bring awareness towards childhood cancers, community development, and academic excellence while promoting higher education to the forefront of community enrichment and engagement.
